Projects Completed

Background

ICCOA and IOSC joined IFOAM efforts in implementing IGO project in 2005. During the later part of the year it implemented three activities, largely relating to advocacy of organic agriculture among Indian stakeholders and enhancing their knowledge about organic agriculture principles, IFOAM positions on various issues and about issues like GMOs, climate change and organic agriculture opportunities and challenges. The report of IGO-2005 has been already submitted to project coordinator in the IFOAM-HQ.

Introduction to IOTF

Project Completed:   India Organic Trade Fair:   2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 (IOTF)

ICCOA had started India Organic Trade Fair ( IOTF ) - 2005 in Bangalore. Almost 50000 general visitors and 500 trade visitors were to attend IOTF presence. Nearly 80/100 stalls were organised to merely create awareness among consumers, and to develop trust for Indian organic products among international traders. To ensure Indian Organic Guarantee systems would be recognized on both domestic and international levels. ICCOA had organised India Organic Trade Fair from 2005 to 2008.

Project Completed:    BioFach India:   2009, 2010 & 2011

ICCOA has a strong strategic growth exprience and has built Partnerships with national, international institutions and individuals in the sector of Organic such as National Centre of Organic Farming (Ministary of Agriculture), APEDA, FiBL, IFOAM, BioFach etc.

BioFach India Trade Fair had come into being since ICCOA had signed an MoU with Nuremberg Messe in June 2008 (Organizer of BioFach - World Organic Trade Fair) for bringing the BioFach Trade Fair to Indian soil.

The BioFach India 2009 was a noteworthy International Organic Trade Exhibition on potential hospitality sector for ICCOA in favour of various Indian industries which was started at Bombay Exhibition Center, Mumbai, on 29th April and ended having indetified a hues amount of trade opportunity on 1st April, 2009. From 2009 onward, BioFach India had become a regular annual Flagship International Organic Exhibition.

After this, we would have had Biofach India 2010 started on 7th Dec. at Bombay Exhibition Center, Mumbai, India and had been purposefully ended on 9th Dec. 2010 having built National and International business links.

And the BioFach India 2011 was a heavy-weight program for ICCOA, had started at Palace Grounds, Shri Krishna Vihar, Mekhri Circle, Bangalore, on 10th Nov. and completed by 12th Nov. 2011. This Exhibition has been ensured a World Leading Trade Show Network for all Organic Products available in India on the basis of high-end communication, innovative education and all kinds of supportive services & Organising capacity.

Introduction to IOMDP

IOMDP: Project objectives

Project objectives would be to create awareness among Indian public, to enhance credibility of the Indian organic guarantee system availability of market information which would be relevant for International and domestic market development and preparing documentation of market chains by means of pilot projects.

IOMDP: Activites

Creation of communication strategy, promotion of material media campaigns: press releases and events support accreditation system and standard setting process, Market research and market information, structuring of business directory, market intelligence, capacity building of ICCOA in developing and documenting market chain systems, coaching of pilot projects and capacity building of stakeholders development of concepts & manuals.

IOMDP : Market Research & Market Information

Market Research and Market Information, Trade directory, Improve market intelligence through MR, disseminate up-to-date information. Capacity building to acquire know-how to ensure sustainable development of Organic market.

IOMDP : Development & documentation of market chains

IOMDP: Development & documentation of market chains, Pilot projects involving training and supporting of organisational development, processing, quality management, marketing & public relations. Capacity building of stakeholders of Organic market through intensive training,, seminars etc. Manuals , development of concepts and share with stakeholders through workshops and publications.

Introduction to IFOAM-IOSC

Project Completed:    International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and India Organic Service Centre (IOSC)

The International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements ( IFOAM ) is the worldwide umbrella organization for the organic agriculture movement, uniting more than 750 member organizations in 108 countries. India Organic Service Centre ( IOSC ) and ICCOA joined IFOAM efforts to set up a joint initiative in Bangalore. The centre aims at promoting nation wide adoption the principles of organic agriculture, taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the large development of organic stakeholders in India. There are on-going projects of organic cotton cultivation run by Maikaal BioRe India.

Introduction to Organic Cotton Project Research Study

Project Completed:   Org. Cotton Proj. Research Study (OCPRS)

This project was started in the year of 2003 in Madhya Pradesh and it was completed in 2005. This research work was designed and coordinated by FiBL, Switzerland in cooperation with ICCOA and Maikaal BioRe Organic cotton project.

Introduction to International Conferences

South Asia

ICCOA organised an international conference in partnership with University of Agriculture Sciences (Bangalore), NCOF, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (GoI) and Organic Farmers Association of India (OFAI): ‘India Organic: Strategies to Surge ahead’ and ‘Outstanding Organic Agriculture Techniques’ was a very successful joint event that attracted delegates from all over India as well as from many countries. It was held in September 2009.

ICCOA had started this conference of "Market Linkages on Organic Horticultural Crops" on 4th August, and had completed on 5th August, 2011. The organising parters of this national conference were: USAID / INDIA (MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY), IHDA (Indian Horticulture Development Alliance).
