Introduction to Arunachal Pradesh:
Organic Adoption Turnkey Project: Arunachal Pradesh
This project has covered 500 ha. of land in Arunachal Pradesh. It has benefited 250 farmers.
Introduction to Sikkim:
Organic Adoption Turnkey Project: Research / Technology Development - Sikkim
This project has therefore been designed in January, 2010 to develop a scientific ‘Package of Practices’ for organic farming of selected three crops and to assess its impact in terms of productivity, quality of produce, and cost of cultivation through ‘System comparison studies ’ against conventional farming as practiced around the experimental site by farmers in Sikkim. The location of the study is a manifest in the most commercialized "South district" of Sikkim. The conclusions to be drawn from the study will pertain to:
a. Soil Health: The soil fertility improvement viz., macro, micro, & other soil nutrients, useful/harmful elements, microbial load etc., in organic farming systems.
b. Yield attributes: The quantity and quality of the harvested crop are compared.
c. Cost benefit analysis: The net returns over variable costs (i.e. income minus production costs in terms of input costs and labor costs) are being recorded. After a 3-year study, it will be analyzed to derive net returns over an extended period and mean values will be derived.
The crops selected for this study are: maize which is one of the most important cereal crops of Sikkim, ginger, an important cash crop of the State and Cherry Pepper (Dalle Khorsani) - the favourite chilli of Sikkim and Darjeeling hills ( because of its moderate pungency, good aroma and good market value). The experiment has been laid out in a randomized block design with three crops comprising the blocks with 3 organic input variables comprising treatments and five replications (each sites representing one replication of experiment), distributed over different farms (see sketch in text under section 3).
Treatment input details (for each crop)
T0 Locally made FYM only (unspecified quantity, roughly 2-3 t/ha)
T1 Nadep - FYM 25 kg / plot (5 t /ha) on farm input plus
Vermicompost= 21.6 kgs / plot (1 t /ha)
T2 Nadep - FYM 25 kg / plot (5 t /ha) on farm input plus
Vermicompost = 21.6 kgs / plot (1 t /ha)
Trichoderma viridae @ 4 gms / kg seed used.
Neem Cake 500 g / plot (half kg) = 125 kg / ha
The replications measuring 39..6 x 10 meters consisted of 9 plots each measuring 3.6 x10

Projects Ongoing ( Research/Technology Development )
Background
ICCOA has started this Research & Technology Development Project in several states i.e. Sikkim and Karnataka.
This project has therefore been designed in January, 2010 to develop a scientific ‘Package of Practices’ for organic farming of selected three crops and to assess its impact in terms of productivity, quality of produce, and cost of cultivation through ‘System comparison studies’ against conventional farming as practiced around the experimental site by farmers in Sikkim. Background
MDF: North-East Project was started in collaboration with Dept. of Horticulture, Govt. of Nagaland on 14-03-2009. This project had been certified by Onecert Asia Agri. Certification Pvt. Ltd., Jaipur on 17-10-2010. This project covers 250 ha area to benefit 206 farmers.
Introduction to CIH ( Central Institute of Horticulture ):
Model/Demonestration Farms: CIH Project
With a lot of research and development on Indian Horticulture platform, ICCOA has come to a conclution to set up its own CIH project portfolio with various Indian State Govt. of Horticulture Agencies. For the want of a well post-harvest infrastructure and awareness and some biological & weather conditions, nearly 40% of Horticultural Produce in India are perishable in nature. So, by trying to reduce such losses and to ensure the much quantity of fruits and vegetables produce in the domain of Horticulture, ICCOA has started its own CIH ( Central Institute of Horticulture ) project in various states in India. ICCOA has become successful to orient the fruitful result of its CIH project to some states in India i.e. in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Karnataka.
Model/Demonestration Farms: Himachal Pradesh
ICCOA had started HPOC ( Himachal Pradesh Organic Cluster ) project in 2010. The Govt. of Agriculture and Govt. of Himachal Pradesh had supported/funded this project. This project will have to take the year of 2013 to get finished.
Projects Ongoing ( Market Development Program )
ICCOA has initiated its Market Development Program in three parallel directions such as (a) Vegetables - Bangalore, (b) Spices - Nagaland, (c) Trade Fairs & Workshops.
Model/Demonestration Farms: Karnataka
ICCOA has started this KOCP ( Karnataka Organic Clusters Project ) project in 2009. This project had got support/fund from Dept. of Horticulture, Govt. of Karnataka. This project will be finished by 2011.
Market Development Program: Vegetables - Bangalore
To facilitate farmers to market their produces, ICCOA has set up a Market Linkage Team on 15th August, 2010. This Team co-ordinates with the local vegetables outlets and shopping malls like Spencers, Safal and Dharani Organics. These organisations started buying the produces from ICCOA farmers' group. ICCOA also conducts many Trade Fairs regularly to bring the buyers and sellers under one roof.
Market Development Program: Spices - Nagaland
The Agro-Climatic Conditions in North Eastern States are suitable for Cultivation of Various Spices. There seems to be a great production , oriented enviornment in the northern sided states in India. Spices are the main agricultural products and practices among farmers in these areas. The Ginger, Turmeric, Chilli and Cardamom are the main agricultural produces in Nagaland.
