Organic agriculture in India needed a platform for stakeholders to keep them abreast with new advances in organic sector. A common platform wherein policy makers, academicians, Govt. officials, researchers and scientists, farmers and trading companies can come together to further explore and enhance opportunities in organic sector. A platform to build interest among farmers and traders (agribusiness companies, buyers, retailers) for supporting organic farming through enabling favourable policies and technologies, increased businesses and investments in the state by companies.
International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) is a knowledge and learning centre in all facets of organic agriculture to promote organic farming and develop markets for the organic produce. Therefore, with its grass-root experiences it has realised that the organic farming is sustainable to the farmer only if market linkages are developed. Adoption and certification is only the first step. Links with businesses to sell organic produce at a premium and consistent buying support is essential to keep the farmer motivated. In these lights, ICCOA was the first organization to identify the need of creating such a platform and started organizing National and International Trade Fair and Conferences, Seminars and Workshops since its inception in 2004.
